Formerly Intermediate Christian Home – (Birthed at Cambridge Vineyard Church in 2003 using a business model and registered as a charity in 2013) A temporary and safe home for 5-7 homeless people inspired to make lifestyle changes in order to support mental health wellness and prevent reoccurring homelessness. Each resident was encouraged to pursue employment, attend church services and Bible studies. During Covid 19, the group home operations were gradually reduced and the mission expanded into the community to address the growing needs of people in crisis. The mission was renamed to Light of the World Community Outreach. The home serves as a Ministry Hub for Hospitality, Bible Studies, and an Office/Call Center.
During The Recent Pandemic...
Since 2020, we partnered with volunteers from various churches to provide food and spiritual care to people in crisis. Weekly, we served about 50-70 hot meals to tent cities, street people, and to residents at Robert Kerr Manor. Bi-weekly, fresh groceries were hand-delivered to 20-25 low-income households and prayer support was offered. All thanks to God for our Cambridge team and 17-20 young adults and their pastors from the Apostolic Christian Church in Kitchener. In Sept 2023, city officials evicted tent dwellers from 150 Main St Parking lot and also from Soper Park. As a result, they scattered in wooded areas throughout the city and this raised a concern for safety of our volunteers. Over time, we sensed God’s Spirit leading us to new territory.
